Confessions of a Prairie Bitch by Alison Arngrim – Dedication

In Adventure, Biography, Books on June 26, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Meet the Bette Middler School of Overcompensation. That’s how shy teen Alison Arngrim overcame her shyness on the set of Little House on the Prairie – where she played Nellie Olson on screen and wanted her castmates to know that she had a big heart under all that bossy dialogue.

We loved this line: “My colleagues spoke about how nice it was that I had ‘come out of my shell.’ I learned then that people see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. It takes very little to help them along.” HaHa πŸ™‚

Alison Arngrim‘s dedication in Confessions of a Prairie Bitch ~

For Jess:

The Pig Woman speaks at last.

For Lucy:

I think I understand you a little bit more every day.

“Jess” may be Alison’s former Personal Manager.

Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man by Bill Clegg – Dedication

In Biography, Books, Horror, Psychology on June 25, 2010 at 8:15 am

Vogue Magazine just ran an article on Bill Clegg’s first novel. The story: crack and heartache.

Bill can mock a dorky corporateer in three quick words and tell a whole vibrant story in just sixteen, but he’ll keep you captivated through all 200+ pages of this novel. See Bill succeed (New York literary agent). See Bill slip and slide into drugs. Hang on to see the end.

We loved the way he shared his partner Noah’s heartache and sorrow and rage. It’ll tear you heart out. 😦

Bill Clegg dedicated Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man ~

For everyone still out there

To my mom and dad, who gave me the best childhood I

would never have been smart enough to ask for.

We especially liked the parts about the GSCC (Government-Sponsored Charity Club) and the amazing 80s photos of her dad in short shorts.
