Paradise by Toni Morrison – Dedication

In Black Authors, Books, Novels on August 2, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Toni Morrison published “Paradise” after winning the Nobel Prize for Literature. Her dedications are simple and sweet ~ she doesn’t write “To” or “For,” but lets the name say it all:

Toni Morrison’s birth name is Chloe Anthony Wofford. She dedicated Paradise to her older sister Lois Wofford.

Their mother took the name Lois from the Timothy in the Bible: Paul spoke to Timothy about faith, saying: “For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and I am sure that it is in you as well.”
