Harry Potter Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling – Dedication

In Adventure, Books on July 3, 2010 at 9:29 am

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling’s fourth Hogwarts book, has this dedication ~

To Peter Rowling,
in memory of Mr. Ridley
and to Susan Sladden,
who helped Harry
out of his cupboard.

According to the wonderful HP Lexicon:

– Peter Rowling = JK’s father

– Ronald Ridley = a family friend who inspired the name Ron Weasley. JK Rowling inscribed her dad’s Goblet of Fire copy with this: “Dear Dad, If I had said Ronald (Weasley) Ridley, they would have tracked the poor bloke down… but that’s why Ron’s called Ron, of course!”

See a photo of JK Rowling’s personal dedication (and drawing) to her dad.

– Susan Sladden = a church friend who babysat JK’s daughter Jessica while JK wrote Harry Potter. Thanks to JKRFan for this one!
